NFL Expands Hispanic Voter Outreach

“Adweek reported that the NFL is expanding its voter registration outreach to Hispanics in the U.S. What I find so interesting about the NFL—and I’m a big fan of both the NFL and sports in general—is how intentional they are in reaching out to the Hispanic community. This voter registration effort is just one example.

Now, they’ve had some missteps in the past, like the poorly received ‘ñFL’ campaign, but overall, the NFL is focused on expanding its reach. They’re not just targeting the U.S. Hispanic market—they’re traveling to places like Argentina, Mexico, Canada, and London to grow their global audience.

The NFL is a massive, for-profit machine, and they’re thinking about their audience in a very nuanced way. They’re hyper-targeting their efforts to different cultures, regions, and languages. This voter outreach to the Hispanic community fits right into that strategy.

Whenever I talk to attorneys about making bold moves in the Hispanic market, I always point to what the sports world is doing, especially in areas with large Hispanic populations. Successful franchises are doing a great job of marketing directly to these communities. This is just one of many examples of how to get it right.
