CA Hispanic Bar Association Exemplifies Community Involvement

Hugo E. Gomez, Founder (Abogados Now): “You’re involved in what you call pipeline building—working with emerging legal professionals at the college level, with Inland Empire universities, and so on. You also host events for your members, like happy hours, dinners, and galas—great opportunities to connect and celebrate. Plus, you’re involved with the greater Hispanic community in the Inland Empire. Can you tell us more about what that involvement looks like?”

Michael Ortiz, President (Hispanic Bar Association of the Inland Empire): “Since our inception in 2019, we’ve partnered with the Riverside Art Museum and played a small part in helping establish the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture. Back in 2019, we hosted a fundraiser to support the museum’s development. Cheech Marin attended, gave a talk at our event, and now, full circle, our upcoming winter gala will be held at the Cheech Museum.

Earlier this year, we also hosted a member event with a private tour of the museum. The impact of the Cheech on the Inland Empire’s culture has already been incredible, and it’s only going to grow in the next five to ten years.”
