Hugo E. Gomez (Founder, Abogados Now): “I often speak with Florida attorneys in areas like workers’ compensation, personal injury, employment, and immigration law, and a common concern is how to submit their ads for approval. At a high level, can you explain what that process entails, especially for attorneys who may already be somewhat familiar with the rule?”
Jonathan Grabb, Ethics Counsel (Florida State Bar): “Florida requires attorneys to file advertisements for review with the Florida Bar. This must be done in compliance with Rule 4-7.19 of the Rules Regulating the Florida Bar. Ads need to be submitted at least 20 days before their intended use, along with a filing fee of $150 per advertisement.
This applies to any type of advertisement promoting your legal services or law firm, such as providing your contact information or describing how clients can access your services. If the ad doesn’t fall under specific exemptions, it must be filed for review.”
