Hugo E. Gomez, Founder (Abogados NOW): “If Florida were to address the changing landscape of scaled advertising, what could that look like? Given how competitive the legal market is, gaining incremental market share requires a competitive edge. This topic comes up often—has there been any thought process around what these adjustments might involve? Additionally, do you have personal opinions on what it could look like?”
Jonathan Grabb, Ethics Counsel (Florida State Bar): “Frankly, my personal opinions don’t carry much weight here because this is a policy decision beyond my authority to implement or change. That said, the Florida Bar’s Board of Governors and the Standing Committee on Advertising are aware of these issues. Adjustments to the rules are something they’re keeping an eye on to ensure we’re adequately adapting to the realities of the marketplace.
Rule changes take time, but that doesn’t mean the conversation isn’t happening. Predicting how advertisement filing will evolve is difficult, but for now, we’re just not quite at the point of making those changes.”
