What the Term “Hispanic” Means to Us

“Law firms often wonder why we use the term “Hispanic” at Abogados Now.

The truth is, we put a lot of consideration into how best we describe the Spanish-speaking community. While terms like “Latino,” “Latinx,” and “Latinidad” exist, we decided “Hispanic” is the best term for us to use to ensure clarity and consistency across our marketing.

Our thoughts were guided by Isaac Mizrahi, a leader in multicultural marketing. As he points out in his book “Hispanic Market Power,” “Hispanic” is a great term to use because it is both gender-neutral and the official term in government communications and data reports like the U.S. Census.

The Spanish-speaking community is diverse, and language evolves. While each term is useful in their own regards, standardizing “Hispanic” as our default at Abogados Now helps us communicate inclusively and effectively.”
