Your Low Ad Spend is Costing You Clients

“A common question attorneys ask about marketing is, “How much should I invest in advertising to see results?” This is a loaded question, as it depends on several factors—your market, your goals, and your practice area.

I usually break it down into three categories:

  1. Personal Injury (PI) in highly competitive metro areas:
Generally, you need to spend around $25,000 per month, over several months, to make a real impact in lead generation. This applies across all categories and languages.

  2. PI in non-competitive metro areas:
For less competitive markets, you can expect to spend between $12,000 to $15,000 per month, again over several months, for an honest effort in generating leads.

  3. Everyone else (with the exception of mass torts):
For other practice areas, you can start seeing some results with a monthly ad spend of at least $5,000. However, if you can’t sustain that level of investment for at least six to twelve months, it’s probably not worth starting.

The reality is, the more you invest, the more outcomes you’ll see, and the larger your data set will be to help identify what’s working and what isn’t. We’re always upfront about this in our conversations. Any marketing effort requires an investment with an expected outcome, and it all starts with the level of that investment.

For most categories, we recommend a minimum of $5,000 per month. On the other hand, for PI, anywhere from $15,000 to $25,000 per month.”
