How To Build Knowledge About Your Local Hispanic Community

One of the cardinal rules of marketing is to know your audience.

You need to deeply understand who it is that you’re marketing to, making it essential to gain insights into their demographics and preferences.

When it comes to attracting Hispanic clients to your law firm, this principle holds true. A localized understanding allows you to tailor your marketing efforts more effectively. Here are some strategies to help you build knowledge about your local Hispanic community:

1. Utilize U.S. Census Data

The U.S. Census Bureau offers a wealth of information about various Hispanic communities. Analyze population figures, growth trends, and demographic breakdowns by age to identify key characteristics and preferences. By analyzing this data, you can gain valuable insights into the composition and characteristics of your local Hispanic population.

Here’s a list of the 5 cities with the highest percentage of Hispanics in the United States, according to to the 2020 census:

1. Los Angeles, California: 1.8 million of the 3.8 million people who live there are Hispanic, which is 47% of the total.

2. Houston, Texas: 43.97% of the population are Hispanic, with a population of over 1 million.

3. San Antonio, Texas: 916,010 Hispanics live in this city, which represents 63.85% of a total of 1.4 million inhabitants.

4. Phoenix, Arizona: 41.1% of the 1.6 million living in the capital of this state is Hispanic.

5. El Paso, Texas: As one of the main cities on the southern border, El Paso has one of the highest percentages of Hispanic population of any city in the United States. Of its 678,815 inhabitants, 551,513 are Hispanic —which represents 81.25% of the total population.

2. Interact with Your Hispanic Community

Direct interaction with members with your local Hispanic community is invaluable. Establishing your presence is essential for building trust and credibility. You can attend Hispanic-oriented events such as festivals or mobile consulate to engage with community members directly.

This personal interaction allows you to forge genuine connections and gain valuable insights into their preferences and concerns through face-to-face conversations. Distributing surveys or questionnaires at these events can also provide valuable feedback and insights.

3. Harness Social Media Engagement

Social media is widely popular among Hispanics, making these platforms a prime source of information. Monitor social media channels to observe the type of content being shared. Analyzing metrics such as likes, shares, and comments allows you to gauge the topics that resonate most with the Hispanic demographic. This can help you understand their interests, preferences, and needs.

85% of Hispanic Americans are heavier social media users overall, compared to 80% of non-Hispanic Americans.
